Dr. Joss O’Loan is a dedicated medical professional who earned his degree from Griffith University. He completed his hospital training at both the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital, where he gained extensive experience across a range of specialties. His student days included time in East Timor and a stint in Costa Rica where he spent 3 months sleeping in a hammock whilst building a community centre.
Dr. O’Loan has since developed a deep expertise in several key areas of healthcare, including paediatrics, mental health, addiction medicine, and chronic disease management.
From his days at Gregory Terrace, he developed a passion for connecting with Brisbane’s marginalised population, volunteering with the Edwin Rice Van for over 10 years on a weekly basis.
In addition to his role at Medeco Inala, Dr. O’Loan is the co-founder and director of the Kombi Clinic, a pioneering mobile outreach service that provides Hepatitis C testing and treatment to marginalized communities throughout Queensland. His commitment to public health and community outreach has earned him recognition for his innovative and compassionate approach to care.
Outside of his professional life, Joss is a devoted family man, married with two children. He enjoys spending time with his family on beach holidays at Stradbroke and K’gari Islands and is an avid participant in cycling, swimming, and triathlons.
A passionate music enthusiast, Joss is widely known among his friends and colleagues as Australia’s foremost Bob Dylan fan. His encyclopaedic knowledge of rock and roll history never fails to impress those around him.
Dr. Matt Young graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1989 and spent the first seven years of his medical career working in hospitals across Brisbane before moving to Dalby to serve as a country GP.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community, Dr. Young was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2024. His tireless commitment to both his patients and his community exemplifies his deep belief in the importance of compassionate care and service.
Dr. Young strongly advocates for a balanced life, believing it is essential for both happiness and health. His diverse interests outside of medicine reflect this ethos. From 2003 to 2019, he was the proud doctor for Souths Rugby Union Club, including during their victorious 2015 premiership season.
Outside of his medical career, Matt is a devoted husband and a loving father to his two children. A seasoned adventurer, Matt has travelled the world and captained the Ned Flanders Cricket Club on expeditions across every continent. After retiring from competitive cricket, he continued to contribute to youth sports, coaching the Souths Flanders Junior Cricket team and the Tarragindi Tigers Junior Girls’ Soccer team.
Matt’s adventurous spirit also includes rafting, mountain climbing, and hiking, alongside a passion for history and archaeology. Having visited all seven continents, he has learned that while cultural differences are vast, people around the world share far more similarities than differences.
Together with his friend and colleague Dr. Joss O’Loan, Matt co-founded the Hep C Kombi Clinic, a mobile outreach initiative bringing life-saving Hepatitis C treatments to underserved and marginalized communities in Queensland.
Nurse Mim is a registered nurse who trained at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, where she spent five years post-grad in Labour Ward. Over 20 years ago, she transitioned into the Blood Borne Virus field and now focuses on screening and linking homeless, marginalised, and incarcerated individuals to Hepatitis C care and cure. Since 2017, Mim has been the driving force behind Kombi Clinic, a mobile healthcare service dedicated to delivering Hepatitis C care.
Mim is recognized globally as a leader in Mobile Hepatitis C Point of Care Testing and Treatment. Her expertise is frequently sought after, and she regularly presents the innovative work of Kombi Clinic at conferences both in Australia and internationally.
In 2018, Mim was awarded the Hesta Nurse of the Year for her outstanding work with Kombi Clinic and was recently honoured with the Queensland Corrective Commissioner’s Award and Medal for Excellence.
Known for her love of wearing vibrant Hawaiian shirts, Mim loves driving around in Kombi Clinic’s bright yellow van, affectionately called Ruby.
In her personal life, Mim has a passion for sewing, a hobby that complements her meticulous and hands-on approach to healthcare.
Garth is a Director and the Secretary/Treasurer at Kombi Clinic, bringing over 50 years of experience in the finance sector to his role.
His extensive background includes leadership and management expertise, contributing to the strategic direction and operational success of the clinic.
He is also the “roadie” ensuring that the Kombi is always filled with the goodies and supplies required.
Outside of his work with the Kombi Clinic, Garth is an avid golfer and can be often found on the fairways of Wynnum Golf Club.
