Beautiful one day. Perfect the next…

There’s the 16 metre-high fibreglass and steel pineapple next to a bit of highway. The majestic Expo ‘88 Skyneedle of haircare mogul Stefan Ackerie that looms large as a cultural beacon of the River City. The unprecedented eight-year-long Maroons dynasty chiselled into State of Origin lore.

Whichever way you look at it, there’s no doubt about it. Queenslanders just have a knack for adding a bit of flair to the everyday.

Doctors Joss O’Loan and Matt Young together with Nurse Mim O’Flynn and phlebotomist Mick Mooney are carrying on that tradition in their own way: Polyester Hawaiian shirts and a 1970s VW Kombi that’s been kitted out with the latest in Hep C diagnostic equipment.

Since July 2017, the Kombi Clinic has driven around the greater Brisbane area bringing life-saving information, treatment and a friendly face to those afflicted with Hepatitis C. And all of it for free.

The aim of the Kombi Clinic is simple: Not everyone affected with Hep C can, or even wants to visit a doctor. So instead, why not go out there in the Kombi and visit the places where we can make it an approachable, accessible and most of all normal experience.
